When I was young I liked to take old VCR players and tape decks apart, all the way down to the tiniest screws, and lay the parts out on the floor of the garage. Then, using a hot glue gun, I would construct objects by sticking the pieces back together. When what I was building resembled what I saw in my head, I would stop. I remember thinking to myself after a particularly successful couple of hours, "sweet, now I have a ray gun."

I think I was best then, with my ray gun made of broken down VCRs and strings of hot glue.
